CFL Betting Odds

Generally bettors are going to be betting the point spread in the CFL, so it’s important that you know how to read point spread odds properly before you begin betting on this football league. You may also want to bet on the moneyline in close match-ups in the CFL, but thankfully the odds are the same minus the point spread. You will need to pay more juice on the favourite when you bet on the moneyline though and you’ll also receive a bigger payout if you plan on betting on an underdog.

CFL Moneyline Odds

· Toronto Argonauts +225 vs. Montreal Alouettes –150

When you bet on the moneyline and simply select the team you think is going to win the game it’s a lot easier then trying to worry about picking the spread correctly. In the example above you’ll need to risk a lot of juice if you want to bet on the favoured Montreal team, as you’d need to bet $150 to win $100. If you thought that the underdog Argonauts were going to win the game then you could bet $100 and potentially win $225 profit.

CFL Point Spread Odds

· Toronto Argonauts +7.5 –110 vs. Montreal Alouettes –7.5 –110

In the example above I’ve showed you exactly how a point spread bet will look like with your sportsbook. The idea behind the bookies setting a point spread is to even out the match-up and thus offering even odds. The sportsbook will still take their juice and make adjustments to the odds based on public action, but for the most part the point spread evens out the odds. In a point spread wager using the example above you’d need to bet $110 to $100 on either team. Montreal needs to win the game by 8 or more points whereas the Argonauts can lose the game by 7 or less points.

Most sportbooks don’t spend a whole lot of time setting the odds for CFL games because there really isn’t a ton of people that bet on the games. From what I’ve noticed it’s fairly easy to find value in a few games every week based on the weak lines set by the sportsbook. You should also spend some time looking at the over/under totals as well because they can often be fairly easy to predict and in some cases even easier then trying to pick against the spread.

One mistake a lot of people will make is thinking that they can predict every game of the week. There are 4 games every week in the CFL involving the 8 teams in the league except for 2 weeks in the middle of the season where only 2 games are played. You should try focusing on finding 1 or 2 bets that you really feel confident in and bet those rather then trying to bet all of the games. Practically every sportsbook offers odds on the CFL, but you should check around to make sure you find the best line every week.
