Roulette wheel serves up seven consecutive number 19’s |
Roulette players and gamblers in general are used to seeing some pretty strange things, but witnessing a roulette ball land on number 19 seven times in a row is something quite new to most of them. Gamblers at Las Vegas’ Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino were eyewitnesses to this strange phenomenon and were undoubtedly wishing they had all placed bets on lucky 19.
A simple $5 bet on number 19 would have won punters $175 the first time, but if you had doubled the bet each time, you would have walked out of the casino with some pretty serious cash in your pocket. In fact, after doing some research, experts said the odds of the ball landing on 19 or any number seven consecutive times are about one in 114 billion. This means a $1 bet could have won somebody close to $2 billion if they had kept betting on 19.
The odds of it happening are actually higher than the odds of being struck by lightning 10 times or more during your lifetime.
Jeff Romano, a professional poker player, was one of those in attendance when the seven straight spins took place and took photos of it. However, after posting the evidence on his Twitter account he sarcastically said the Rio’s roulette wheel isn’t rigged. To make things even more unbelievable, after the seven consecutive number 19s, the roulette ball landed on number 15. But the very next spin saw it land on 19 yet again.
Gamblers don’t expect to see an amazing streak like this take place again in their lifetime, especially since the odds of winning at the roulette table are heavily in favour of the house.
