Lamar Odom Traded To Mavericks; Kobe, Khloe Sad |
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Lakers traded reigned NBA Sixth Man of the Year Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks for a first round pick in next year’s draft and a trade exemption, which made Lamar’s wife Khloe Kardashian and Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant pretty bummed.
Lamar was reportedly hurt that the Lakers had included him in a deal for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul that the NBA later rejected, so it seems like he may have wanted out. The Lakers in turn may use the trade exemption to try to land Dwight Howard, who is eager to get the hell out of Orlando. But the trade was still pretty emotional for Lamar’s reality star wife, who’s family is based in Los Angeles, and Kobe, who won his last two championships playing with Lamar.
“We are all sad but positive energy gets you farther then negative,” Khloe tweeted. “I have no doubt about it! I am excited
I know this is for a reason.” Her sister Kim briefly dated Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, and another sister, Kourtney, spent two years living in Dallas while going to school at SMU.
“To be honest with you, I don’t like it,” said Kobe. “It’s tough to lose Lamar. Pau [Gasol, who was also included in the nixed Paul deal] is still here, and we’re all thankful for that. It’s hard when you’ve been through so many battles with players to just see them go somewhere else. It’s tough.”
