Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. Jake Paul is officially set for November 14th. Paul recently joined the cruiserweight rankings with his win over Julio César Chávez Jr. Rather than fighting a fellow 200-pounder, though, the YouTuber will take on Tank Davis, the reigning WBA lightweight champion.

Paul has a significant size advantage, but Davis is a champion for a reason. I will break down the opening Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis odds below. Also, I will give my predictions for this unique boxing exhibition.

Gervonta Davis vs. Jake Paul Odds

Here are the opening odds for Gervonta Davis-Jake Paul courtesy of BetOnline Sportsbook.

  • Gervonta Davis (-600)
  • Jake Paul (+350)

Despite having a substantial size advantage, Paul is a +350 underdog against Davis. Tank, on the other hand, is listed as a -600 favorite. The WBA lightweight champion’s current odds offer an implied win probability of 85.71%

Odds have not been released yet for total rounds or method of victory. However, as more information is released about the fight, additional betting markets will be created.

Gervonta Davis (-600)

Gervonta “Tank” Davis has yet to taste defeat in his professional career. However, his record is no longer perfect. The WBA lightweight champion fought to a draw in his last title defense against Lamont Roach Jr.

Still, a 30-0-1 record is beyond impressive. Rather than an immediate rematch with Roach Jr., though, Davis will “fight” Jake Paul in an exhibition match.

Davis, who is more than 60 pounds lighter than Paul, is the -600 favorite at top boxing betting sites.

Before his draw with Roach Jr., Davis had racked up 30 consecutive wins, including 28 by knockout. Some of Tank’s recent wins include:

  • Frank Martin – 8th round KO
  • Ryan Garcia – 7th round KO
  • Héctor García – 9th round RTD
  • Rolando Romero – 6th round TKO
  • Isaac Cruz – Unanimous decision

Roach Jr., Cruz, and Germán Meraz are the only fighters to take Davis the distance.

There is no denying Tank’s skills, but he has never fought above super lightweight. His heaviest weigh-in for a fight came when he faced Mario Barrios and clocked in at 139.75 pounds. For reference, Paul weighed 199.4 pounds for his last fight.

Jake Paul (+350)

Despite what his detractors say, Jake Paul has built a relatively successful boxing career out of fighting unusual opponents. His decision to take on Tank Davis has already drawn criticism. Paul has just about every measurable advantage over Davis.

However, despite his undeniable size, weight, and reach advantages, Paul is a +350 underdog for his fight with Tank.

Paul is 12-1 so far in his “professional” boxing career. However, many of his opponents have been tired MMA fighters or boxers who are, to put it nicely, past their prime. His sole career loss came against Tommy Fury, who beat Paul via split decision.

We last saw Paul fight in June, when he defeated Chávez Jr. and earned a spot in the WBA cruiserweight rankings. In addition to Chávez Jr, Paul’s other recent fights include:

  • Mike Tyson – Unanimous decision win
  • Mike Perry – TKO win in the 6th round
  • Ryan Bourland – TKO win in the 1st round
  • Andre August – KO win in the 1st round
  • Nate Diaz – Unanimous decision win

The quality of his opponents aside, Paul does have skills as a boxer. Seven of his 12 career wins have come via knockout, and he will have the physical advantage against Davis. Also, he has never been knocked out, as his only career loss came via decision.

Gervonta Davis-Jake Paul Predictions

Choosing to fight a lightweight after earning a spot in the cruiserweight rankings is certainly an interesting choice by Paul. Losing to someone he has a 60+ pound weight advantage over can also damage Paul’s reputation.

Davis also has a lot on the line, including his reputation and his undefeated record. Even with the fight only being an exhibition, a loss against Paul would reflect badly on Tank.

The legitimacy of Paul’s fights has long been questioned, especially his exhibition matches. With that in mind, I think Paul will structure the rules so he can beat or, at worst, tie Davis.

  • Prediction: Jake Paul +350
