Qora Games Debuts Classic Blackjack: Pair and Poker Pays

Qora Games added a new twist on its popular Classic Blackjack game with its latest release, Classic Blackjack: Pair and Poker Pays. The game adds multiple side wagers to the Classic Blackjack title. I tested the new game to see how it compares to other blackjack options.

Classic Blackjack: Pair and Poker Pays By the Numbers

Before you try your hand at this newest release, here are the numbers behind Classic Blackjack: Pair and Poker Pays that you need to know:

• RTP: 99.59%
• Number of decks: 6
• Natural blackjack: Pays 3:2
• Dealer: Stands on soft 17
• Number of hands: Up to 5

The core mechanics of the game are comparable to those of other top blackjack titles. However, the real attraction of this game lies in its blackjack side-bet options. It allows Pair Pays, Poker Pays, and an insurance bet.

Pair Pays

The Pairs Pays bet offers not one, but three ways to win:

• Mixed Pair = 5:1 payout
• Colored Pair = 10:1 payout
• Pair Pays = 30:1 payout

For the bet to pay, the first two cards dealt in a hand must form a pair. The more perfect the pair, the more you win.

According to Qora Games, the expected RTP on the Pair Pays wager is 94.21%.

Poker Pays

The Poker Pays wager offers even more ways to win, with five possible winning combinations.

• Flush = 5:1 payout
• Straight = 10:1 payout
• Three-of-a-kind = 25:1 payout
• Straight Flush = 40:1
• Suited Three-of-a-kind = 100:1

Your “poker hand” is formed using your first two cards and the dealer’s up-card. If you make any combination of a flush or better, you get a sizable payout.

Qora lists the RTP for the Poker Pays wager at 92.86%, creating a house edge of 7.14%.

How This Impacts Players

The base game RTP is on par with other multi-deck blackjack options, allowing players to achieve a high return using the right blackjack strategy. Side wagers usually do not have a high RTP, so it is not surprising that the Poker Pays and Pairs Pays wagers are lower than the base game. They can be fun options to play, but are probably best avoided by players focused solely on maximizing their returns.

GamblingNerd Take

I played 100 hands of Classic Blackjack: Pairs and Poker Pays to test Qora’s newest release. I bet $10 per ante wager, but only $1 each on the Pairs Pays and Poker Pays side wagers. The difference between ante and side wager stakes helped limit the potential negative impact of these low-RTP bets.

Also, I played five hands at once against the dealer while using basic strategy. I avoided taking the insurance bet on all three occasions it was offered.

Overall, I won 58 of my 100 hands and only pushed twice. Also, I had 10 natural blackjacks, which helped me make a total profit of $193 in my short session.

I only won the Pair Pays wager five times and triggered the Poker Pays bet on eight hands. On the bright side, I did get a Perfect Pair, and the 30:1 payout helped offset the dealer’s natural blackjack that wiped my entire board.

My other pairs included three Colored Pairs and one Mixed Pair. My most common Poker Hand was a Flush, which I hit six times, and I also landed two Straights. 

Unfortunately, I was not able to hit either side bet enough to make up for the $100 total handle I placed on each. In other words, I would have made more money if I had not placed the side bets to begin with.
