The international NFL games slate kicks off with an NFC West showdown between the 49ers and Rams in Week 1. Los Angeles is the -3.5-point favorite against San Francisco on Thursday in Melbourne, Australia.
I discuss the latest odds for the first game of the 2026 NFL international games schedule below. Also, I explain my official predictions for the 49ers vs. Rams in Week 1.
Current 49ers vs. Rams Melbourne Odds Snapshot
Check out the table below for the latest 49ers vs. Rams odds, courtesy of the top NFL betting sites.
| Market | Lucky Rebel | BetUS | BetOnline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moneyline | 49ers (+170) vs. Rams (-200) | 49ers (+167) vs. Rams (-195) | 49ers (+161) vs. Rams (-185) |
| Point Spread | Rams -3.5 (-108) | Rams -3.5 (-110) | Rams -3.5 (-110) |
| Total Points | Over/under 48.0 | Over/under 48.0 | Over/under 48.0 |
The odds above are accurate as of September 7th.
LA is the designated “home” team for this NFC West divisional matchup in Australia and is favored by 3.5 points. BetOnline has the best moneyline odds on the Rams at -185. Lucky Rebel, on the other hand, offers the best return on a 49ers upset at +170 odds.
49ers vs. Rams Prop Wagers
There are exciting Week 1 game props for the 49ers vs. the Rams, too, such as:
- Lucky Rebel: George Kittle anytime TD Scorer (+240)
- BetUS: Kyren Williams 56+ rushing yards (-114)
- BetOnline: Deebo Samuel’s longest reception over/under 15.5 yards
George Kittle is recovering from an Achilles tear, but he is on track to play in Week 1. Thanks to the injuries to other 49ers’ pass catchers, Kittle’s role could be expanded if he plays. Kittle is listed at +240 at Lucky Rebel to score a TD this week.
Rams’ RB Kyren Williams is another player to consider in 49ers vs. Rams prop wagers. Williams has been one of the best RBs in the NFL since he took over the starting job and could see extra work in Week 1 thanks to Puka Nacua’s injury. He is available at -114 odds at BetUS to have 56+ rushing yards this week.
Deebo Samuel returned to the 49ers after a year with the Commanders. Samuel’s longest reception is listed at over/under 15.5 yards at BetOnline. He could be a major part of the 49ers’ passing game given Mike Evans’ injuries.
The Nerd’s Verdict on 49ers vs. Rams Melbourne
Here are my favorite picks for this Thursday’s matchup between the 49ers and the Rams in Melbourne.
49ers vs. Rams Moneyline
- Verdict: Bet on the San Francisco 49ers to win
- Best captured price: Lucky Rebel lists the 49ers at +170
- Break-even probability: 37.04%
- Target price: Even money or shorter odds
- Primary risk: The 49ers cannot overcome their preseason injuries.
- Confidence: Moderate – The Rams have arguably the best roster in the NFL.
San Francisco 49ers to Win (+170)
The Rams are widely considered the favorites to win Super Bowl 61, so it is not surprising that they are favored in Week 1. However, even by divisional opponent standards, the 49ers have been a thorn in the Rams’ side for years.
Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan became the head coaches of the Rams and 49ers, respectively, in 2017. Since then, the 49ers are 11-7 against McVay’s Rams.
San Francisco has also done everything in its power to get its roster ready for Week 1 in Australia, including traveling to Melbourne a week before the game. LA, on the other hand, is not leaving until Tuesday for Thursday’s game.
Also, for what it is worth, the 49ers have won three of their last four road games against the Rams. Most of the Rams’ recent success against the 49ers, on the other hand, has come in San Francisco.
49ers vs. Rams Point Spread
- Verdict: Bet on 49ers +3.5
- Best captured price: BetOnline has 49ers +3.5 at -110 odds
- Break-even probability: 52.38%
- Target price: 2.5 points are shorter
- Primary risk: Injuries to the 49ers’ offensive skill players.
- Confidence: High – 3 of the last 5 Rams’ wins over the 49ers were by fewer than 3.5 points.
San Francisco 49ers +3.5 (-110)
As mentioned above, I believe the 49ers are an excellent bet to beat the Rams outright. With that in mind, I also recommend San Francisco to cover the 3.5-point spread in Week 1.
The 49ers are 8-5 against the Rams since 2020. Of the five games that they lost, three of the 49ers’ losses were by three points or fewer. In fact, the 49ers have not lost by more than 3.5 points against the Rams on the road since 2018.
Early-season games also tend to be lower-scoring, increasing the 49ers’ chances of covering. The Rams’ top offensive weapon, WR Puka Nacua, is dealing with a psoas injury that caused him to miss significant time in practice last month.
An injured Nacua will limit the explosiveness of the Rams’ offense and make it harder than expected for the Rams to cover 3.5 points.
Best 49ers vs. Rams Player Prop
- Verdict: Bet on Kyren Williams’ rushing total
- Best captured price: BetUS has Williams at -114 for 56+ rushing yards
- Break-even probability: 53.27%
- Target price: -140 or longer odds
- Primary risk: Williams had multiple ankle injuries last year.
- Confidence: High – Establishing the run will help the Rams overcome WR Puka Nacua’s injury.
Kyren Williams 56+ Rushing Yards (-114)
Nacua is expected to play, but that does not mean he will have his usual impact. Considering that Nacua is potentially limited, I like Rams RB Kyren Williams to have 56+ rushing yards against the 49ers this week.
Williams has averaged 69.7 rushing yards per game for his career, including racking up 73.6 YPG on the ground last season. He has averaged 77.4 rushing YPG in his five career games against San Francisco and has had 65+ yards on the ground in four of those five games.
Opposing teams averaged over 107 rushing yards per game against the 49ers last season. As the RB1, Williams should get the bulk of the carries this week, allowing him to cover his 56+ rushing yards total.
Who the Market Picks to Win: 49ers vs. Rams
Oddsmakers squarely have the Rams as the favorites for Thursday’s opener against the 49ers. Los Angeles is laying 3.5 points across the board, but there is some variance in the Rams’ moneyline odds this week:
- Lucky Rebel: Rams -200
- BetUS: Rams -195
- BetOnline: Rams -185
Based on the odds above, the best place to bet on the Rams winning outright is BetOnline, which offers the highest return at -185.
The LA bias extends to prop wagers, too. BetUS has Matthew Stafford, for example, listed at -145 to have 2+ passing touchdowns. Brock Purdy, on the other hand, is only listed at -104 in the same market.
Rams players are favored in many prop bets, too, but not all of them. For instance, 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey has the shortest odds of any player to score in this game at -167, according to BetUS. After CMC, the next four players are all Rams skill players, including Kyren Williams (-143), Puka Nacua (+110), Davante Adams (+129), and Blake Corum (+140)
3 Biggest Factors That Can Influence 49ers vs. Rams
Early-season matchups and international games both present unique issues for bettors. Consider these three factors before placing your bets on 49ers vs. Rams.
International Travel
International travel can take its toll on all of us, and flying to Australia will be a new test for the NFL. The 49ers and Rams have taken radically different approaches to playing in Melbourne. San Francisco arrives a week before the game to allow players to acclimate, while the Rams are not flying until Tuesday for Thursday’s matchup.
Injuries
Both teams are also dealing with injuries to key players. The LA players to watch include WR Puka Nacua, DE Myles Garrett, and DT Aaron Donald, who is coming out of retirement. San Francisco has a lot of injuries to monitor, too, such as Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Mike Evans.
Aaron Donald
Speaking of Aaron Donald, the former three-time Defensive Player of the Year official came out of retirement at the end of August. However, it is unclear when he will play or what his snap count will look like.
If Donald plays, even if it is on a snap count, he will make an impact. Assuming Donald is watching the entire game from the sideline, though, the 49ers’ odds of winning will increase.
International NFL Games 2026 Predictions
Los Angeles is the betting favorite against San Francisco in the first NFL international game of 2026. However, the recent history between these teams and their differences in travel plans suggest that the 49ers can cover the 3.5-point spread, if not win the game outright.
