James Wood (+500), Matt Olson (+800), and Byron Buxton (+850) round out the top five. Jazz Chisholm just missed the top five at +950 odds. Brent Rooker and Junior Caminero are tied for the longest odds at 10-1 each.

Oneil Cruz (+330)

Cruz is tied for the 36th-most home runs so far this season with 16. He has hit the same number of homers as Mike Trout and Fernando Tatis Jr.

He was not selected for the MLB All-Star Game, but Cruz certainly has the power to hold his own in the Derby. In August 2022, Cruz set a new record for the hardest hit ball in the Statcast era at 122.4 MPH.

Cruz broke his own record this past May, hitting a ball 122.9 MPH against the Brewers. He has the power, but Cruz’s consistency with hitting the ball will determine if he wins the Derby or not. Pittsburgh’s young star is hitting .204 so far this season.

Cal Raleigh (+350)

Cal Raleigh has hit 36 home runs this season, the most in all of the MLB. Despite leading the majors in home runs, Raleigh only has the second-best odds MLB Home Run Derby odds at +350.

Raleigh has improved his home run total each year and has hit 100 homers over the last three years.  He was also named to his first All-Star Game this season.

In addition to leading the league in home runs, Raleigh is also on pace to set career-bests in:

• Batting average (.262)
• Slugging percentage (.631)
• OPS (1.008)

Simply put, Raleigh has dominated at the plate this season. If he brings that same energy to Truist Park, then he will be taking the Home Run Derby trophy back to Seattle.

James Wood (+500)

Another top contender in the current 2025 Home Run Derby odds is James Wood. Washington’s second-year star is listed at 5-1 odds to claim his first Derby title.

Wood made his Major League debut last season, playing in 79 games for the Nationals. He hit nine home runs and batted in 41 RBIs in his rookie season. So far this season, Wood has smashed 24 homers while racking up 99 hits and 69 RBIs.

His 24 home runs are the eighth-most in the league and the second-most of anyone in this year’s Derby.

Wood has hit a minor slump as of late. Since the June 24th game against San Diego, Wood has hit just two homers in 49 at-bats. If Wood cannot turn his luck around, he will likely disappoint in his first Home Run Derby appearance. 

Byron Buxton (+850)

Rounding out the top five in this year’s Home Run Derby betting odds is Byron Buxton. Secure betting sites list Minnesota’s center fielder at +850 odds to win this year’s Derby.

Buxton is in his 11th season in the Majors and was named to his second All-Star Game this season. He also won the Gold Glove Award in 2017. Buxton has spent his entire Major League career with Minnesota, hitting .247 and crushing 153 homers for the Twins.

This season is the first time since 2022 that Buxton has been named an All-Star. It is the first time since then that he has hit at least 20 home runs. He set a career-high in 2022 with 28 homers and is on pace to set a new personal-best this season.
