Who the Odds Say Goes Number One Overall

Fernando Mendoza is a lock. The Heisman Trophy winner and national champion has been priced as low as -50000 to go first overall to the Las Vegas Raiders, which is about as close to a sure thing as sportsbooks will post. His odds have only shortened as draft day arrived.

The case for him is straightforward. He led Indiana to a perfect 16-0 record and the program’s first national title, throwing for 3,535 yards and 41 touchdowns along the way. His 58.7% success rate on dropbacks ranked in the 99th percentile among all quarterback seasons since 2020. Arm strength, accuracy, and pre-snap processing are all first-round qualities. For the Raiders, he’s the franchise quarterback they’ve been searching for, and he’s expected to start in Week 1.

Picks 2-5: Where It Gets Messy

Pick 2: New York Jets

This one has been a moving target all week. Edge rusher David Bailey opened as a significant underdog before flipping to a -125 favorite over Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese, who sits at -120. They’re essentially deadlocked.

Bailey racked up 14.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss at Texas Tech in 2025 and wins with elite first-step quickness and a sharp inside spin move. Reese is the more versatile option, a former Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year who can rush the passer, spy the quarterback, and match up in coverage. Ian Rapoport confirmed on Wednesday that the Jets are genuinely down to these two. Both have +200 or better odds to go third, so whoever the Jets pass on likely won’t last long.

Picks 3 and 4: Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans

Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love is the favorite to land somewhere in this range, sitting at +165 to go third to Arizona and +150 to go fourth to Tennessee. The Doak Walker Award winner ran for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns in 12 games last season and is widely regarded as the best pass-catching back in the class.

He would be the first top-five running back since 2018.

Pick 5: New York Giants

Three players are in play here with no clear frontrunner. Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles leads at +185 after an extensive pre-draft process with the Giants, including multiple meetings and a post-pro day visit. Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson has moved to +225, and multiple league executives believe the Giants’ interest is real.

Jeremiyah Love is a long shot at +380 if he somehow clears picks three and four.
