2025 NFL Season Predictions

puka nacua

There are so many upsets and hat tricks during the NFL season that it can be difficult to predict who will hoist the Lombardi trophy in February.

But sportsbooks already have odds and lines available for Super Bowl winners, conference champions, and much more.

We’re going to throw in some of our thoughts and make some season-long predictions, as well as showcase our weekly 2025 NFL predictions.

2025 Weekly NFL Predictions

Each week, we’ll put out a new post with our thoughts on the next week of the season. These posts include our picks, NFL betting site recommendations, and more.

Week 12 (2025) – Betting Lines and NFL Predictions (Last Updated 11/20/2026)

Our Top Pick: Kansas City Chiefs (-173) vs. Indianapolis Colts

Both of the Colts’ losses this season have come on the road. Also, before their bye, Daniel Jones’s turnover issues were beginning to rear their ugly head.

Kansas City is only .500 on the season, but they have a +73 point differential, one of the highest in the league. The Chiefs’ defense, which allows under 300 YPG, will sell out to stop Jonathan Taylor and force Jones to beat them. A desperate Chiefs team will avoid its third straight loss with a crucial win this season.

  • Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -173

While the odds for the Super Bowl Winner and other end-of-season titles are always shifting as team rankings change, we can still predict the winners for each category with current information.

Super Bowl Odds

Last week, our leading NFL expert, Shaun Stack, had the Buffalo Bills as his top pick to win the Super Bowl. They were 4-0 then, and are 5-2 now, but their odds are still quite good. Last week they were +400, this week they are +500.

The Bills are still the best-priced team in the league, next to the Lions at +700 and the Eagles at +750.

How We Make NFL Picks

Every NFL pick we make is backed by research, data, and a clear understanding of how the game evolves week to week. Our process starts with analyzing recent injuries to key players, since even a single absence can drastically alter a team’s game plan or betting value. We also evaluate each team’s ability to move the ball—both through the air and on the ground—to determine whether their offense can sustain drives and convert in the red zone.

Defensive and offensive performance metrics play a major role, too. We look at yards allowed per play, third-down efficiency, turnover differential, and situational stats like red-zone defense to get a complete picture of each matchup. Finally, we monitor line movements from previous weeks to see how the betting market has reacted. Sharp money and public sentiment often reveal underlying trends that can give bettors an edge.

By combining these insights with advanced analytics and on-field context, we aim to provide picks that reflect both the numbers and the nuance of every NFL matchup.

Here’s Shaun Stack, one of our NFL experts, talking about how he picks games:

“I try to account for as many factors as possible, from usage rates and schemes to weather and a coach’s job security. Some schemes matchup better against others, while some teams and players are at a distinct advantage in cold or rainy weather. Coaches on the hot seat usually take bigger risks, too, including who they start and what plays they run.”

What is closing line value (CLV) in NFL betting, and why does it matter?

Taylor Smith Author Image

Answer

Taylor Smith ,

Closing line value measures how your bet compares to the final odds before kickoff. If you bet the Chiefs -3 early in the week and the line closes at Chiefs -4.5, you’ve beat the closing line. Over time, consistently getting better numbers than the market indicates you’re finding value, even if individual bets lose.

Why are 3 and 7 key numbers in NFL point spreads?

Shaun Stack Author Image

Answer

Shaun Stack ,

NFL games often end with margins of 3 or 7 points because of field goals or touchdowns. That’s why a spread moving from +3 to +2.5 or from -7 to -7.5 is a major shift in expected outcome. Savvy bettors look for opportunities to get or avoid the “hook” (the half-point) on these numbers, especially when line shopping across sportsbooks.

What are lookahead lines?

Isaac Payne Author Image

Answer

Isaac Payne ,

Lookahead lines are early spreads and totals for next week’s games, posted before the current week’s slate is played. They’re often softer because sportsbooks limit action to avoid sharp exposure. If you can predict how a team’s performance or injury news will affect next week’s perception, you can grab a better number before the market adjusts.

What happens to NFL futures bets if a player doesn't complete the season?

Ben Morris Author Image

Answer

Ben Morris , Author at GamblingNerd.com,

Most sportsbooks grade futures “as action” unless the entire event is canceled. That means if you bet on a player to win MVP and they get hurt midseason, the bet still stands. That means you’ll lose unless the player still manages to win the award. Always read the sportsbook’s house rules, because terms can vary between sites for futures markets like MVP or Rookie of the Year.

Can you cash out an NFL futures bet midseason?

Webster Lupton Author Image

Answer

Webster Lupton , Author at GamblingNerd.com,

Yes, many sportsbooks now allow early cashouts on futures bets. The cashout value reflects the current odds and the book’s margin, so it’s usually less than the full expected value. Cashing out can make sense to lock in profit or cut losses, but long-term bettors often hold positions if they believe the market hasn’t fully corrected yet.

Summary

The 2025 NFL season is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable in years, and the futures markets are already showing plenty of movement. From Super Bowl odds to conference winners, there’s no shortage of value if you’re watching line shifts closely and jumping early on the right teams. Whether it’s Detroit making noise in the NFC or Buffalo pushing for the top spot in the AFC, smart bettors know these midseason prices won’t last long.

Each week, we’ll keep tracking the biggest odds moves, injury updates, and betting trends that shape the board. Stay tuned to GamblingNerd for fresh analysis, updated futures picks, and expert predictions as we get closer to the playoffs.
