2025 U.S. Open Golf Odds: Top Picks, Sleepers & Predictions

Author ImageAuthor: | Last Updated: June 2025

The early U.S. Open golf odds have Scottie Scheffler in the driver’s seat to win his second major of the year. To claim his first U.S. Open Trophy, Scheffler must outlast the fierce competition at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

This guide will analyze the current U.S. Open odds to win for the top golfers in the penultimate major of 2025. I will break down the odds from top golf betting sites and highlight my favorite 2025 U.S. Open bets.

U.S. Open Favorites Worth Backing

According to Bovada, here are the top contenders for this year’s U.S. Open.

  • Scottie Scheffler (+275)
  • Bryson DeChambeau (+700)
  • Rory McIlroy (+1100)
  • Jon Rahm (+1400)
  • Xander Schauffele (+2000)

Scheffler has been the top-ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Ranking for over 140 weeks. He is coming off a win at the 2025 PGA Championship, the third major win of his career. So, it is unsurprising that the soon-to-be 29-year-old is the +275 favorite to win the 2025 U.S. Open.

Bryson DeChambeau is a distant second at +700. DeChambeau is the defending champion and has won this major twice in his career.

Rory McIlroy, the 2025 Masters Champion, is third at 11-1 odds. Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele round out the top five at +1400 and +2000, respectively. Rahm won the U.S. Open in 2021, and Schauffele won two majors last year.

Scottie Scheffler (+275)

After nearly three years as the world’s top-ranked golfer, Scottie Scheffler can add to his legacy with his first U.S. Open win this year. Scheffler is the +275 favorite in the latest U.S. Open odds for 2025 at top online sportsbooks.

Scheffler won the PGA Championship in May, finishing 11 under par with a five-stroke lead on the nearest competitors. All three of Scheffler’s career major wins have come with a score of 10 under par or better.

This will be Scheffler’s eighth U.S. Open appearance. In his previous seven attempts, the closest Scheffler has come to the U.S. Open Trophy was tying for second place in 2022. He has had three top 10 finishes in the last four years, but he had one of his worst showings last year, tying for 41st.

Bryson DeChambeau (+700)

The defending U.S. Open champion is none other than Bryson DeChambeau. He is listed at 7-1 odds to repeat as the winner this year. DeChambeau would be the sixth person to win at least three U.S. Opens, and the first golfer with back-to-back wins since Brooks Koepka (2017, 2018).

So far, the U.S. Open is the only major that DeChambeau has won. However, he did finish with a career-best T5 at the 2025 Masters. DeChambeau also tied for second at the 2025 PGA Championship, his second straight year finishing as the runner-up for the Wannamaker Trophy.

Winning this year’s U.S. Open at the Oakmont Golf Club could be a full-circle moment of sorts for DeChambeau. In 2016, the last time the tournament was held at Oakmont, DeChambeau finished tied for 15th. It was the first time he made the cut in the event, and his T15th finish held as a career best in any major until 2020.

Rory McIlroy (+1100)

Speaking of standouts from last year’s tournament, Rory McIlroy is listed at +1100 odds to win the U.S. Open in 2025. He lost last year’s event by one stroke. McIlroy has finished as the runner-up in back-to-back years.

The U.S. Open was McIlroy’s first major win, as he claimed first place back in 2011. So far, though, that is his only win in the event. The only major that McIlroy has won multiple times is the PGA Championship (2012, 2014).

Despite multiple disappointing finishes in recent years, McIlroy cannot be counted out of this year’s tournament. He finally completed his career grand slam this year with a win at the 2025 Masters. After six consecutive top 10 finishes, 2025 could finally be the year that McIlroy wins his second U.S. Open.

Xander Schauffele (+2000)

Rounding out the top five in the latest U.S. Open odds at secure golf sportsbooks is Xander Schauffele. He had a career year in 2024, winning the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. Schauffele finished in the top 10 at all four majors last year.

So far, 2025 has been much less productive for Schauffele. He tied for eighth at the 2025 Masters but finished T28th at the PGA Championship. On the bright side, Schauffele has finished in the top 14 in all eight of his U.S. Open appearances.

  • Prediction: Bryson DeChambeau +700

Live Long Shots & Sleepers

Betting on a dark horse is another way to make the U.S. Open more thrilling. Here are four sleeper picks to consider for the 2025 U.S. Open.

  • Collin Morikawa (+2500)
  • Patrick Cantlay (+3500)
  • Brooks Koepka (+5000)
  • Dustin Johnson (+15000)

Morikawa has been ranked in the top 10 of the OWGR for over a year and is currently ranked fourth. Despite being a top-five golfer, he is only listed at 25-1 to win the U.S. Open.

Patrick Cantlay is another sleeper to watch at 35-1 odds. Cantlay finished tied for third last year, just two strokes behind DeChambeau. Similarly, two-time U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka also offers good value at +5000.

Rounding out my list of long shots for the 2025 U.S. Open is Dustin Johnson. Like DeChambeau, Johnson is a U.S. Open champion. He won the 2016 U.S. Open, which was also held at Oakmont.

Best Prop Bets and Finishing Position Picks

In addition to betting on the outright winner, Bovada also offers exciting U.S. Open golf odds in prop markets. Here are three props I recommend for this year’s U.S. Open.

Scheffler vs. The Field

  • Scottie Scheffler (+275)
  • The field (-400)

One of the easiest prop wagers to bet on the 2025 U.S. Open is this wager pitting Scheffler against the field. Scheffler won the PGA Championship in May, his first major win outside of the Masters in his career.

Scheffler’s career best in this tournament was a tie for second in 2022. Last year, he finished tied for 41st. Scheffler should do better than 41st, but I recommend taking the field in this prop.

  • Prediction: The Field -400

Top 5 Finish Odds

  • Scottie Scheffler (-150)
  • Bryson DeChambeau (+150)
  • Rory McIlroy (+225)
  • John Rahm (+240)
  • Xander Schauffele (+350)

You can also wager on golfers finishing in the top five of this year’s U.S. Open. Scheffler once again leads the pack at -150. DeChambeau is a close second at +150, followed by Rory McIlroy (+225), John Rahm (+240), and Xander Schauffele (+350).

Schauffele has never finished lower than T14 in the U.S. Open and has finished in the top 10 six times. Despite being listed at +350, Schauffele is arguably the safest bet in this market given his consistency in this tournament.

  • Prediction: Xander Schauffele +350

Made/Missed Cut Odds

Wagering on golfers to make or miss the cut is another popular prop bet for major tournaments. See the table below for the make/miss cut odds for some of this year’s top U.S. Open contenders.

GolferOdds to Make the CutOdds to Miss the Cut
Scottie Scheffler-1800+800
Bryson DeChambeau-700+425
Rory McIlroy-450+300
John Rahm-500+325
Xander Schauffele-350+250

Scheffler is a heavy favorite to make the cut at -1800. His odds suggest a 94.74% win probability but offer little value.

Instead, I once again recommend Schauffele at -350 odds to make the cut. He has never missed the cut in his eight previous U.S. Open appearances.

  • Prediction: Schauffele to Make the Cut -350

US Open Betting Strategy

Betting on golf majors is easy, but choosing the right golfer to wager on can be challenging. Here are three tips to help you win your U.S. Open bets.

  • Manage your bankroll: Bankroll management is crucial in any type of gambling. Mismanaging funds can derail even the most successful bettors.
  • Do your research: Researching the course, recent performances, and the weather can help you identify the golfers most likely to succeed in the tournament.
  • Consider heading options: Hedging your bet is one way to minimize your risk. Prop bets are great tools for bettors looking to hedge their U.S. Open wagers.
