2025 World Series Odds and Predictions

First pitch is set to fly on the 2025 World Series, and we’ve got an intriguing mix of fresh and familiar faces in this year’s Fall Classic.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to capture their second straight title and third in six years, while the Toronto Blue Jays are making their first World Series appearance since 1993.

The Dodgers have been the betting favorite to repeat as World Series winners all season long and maintain that position heading into Game 1, but the Blue Jays have thrived as a scrappy underdog throughout the year.

Without further ado, here’s my breakdown of team and MVP odds plus my predictions for the 2025 World Series.

2025 World Series Odds

The Dodgers came into the MLB season as the odds-on favorite to win the 2025 World Series at +250, and they’ve held up their end of the bargain so far, making it to the championship series for the second straight year.

That trend continues into the Fall Classic as Los Angeles enters Game 1 as a heavy -220 favorite over the Blue Jays, per the latest BetUS odds.

Toronto has had a much different path to the World Series, at least from a betting perspective. The Blue Jays opened the season at a massive +6500 to make it to the championship series – the longest odds of any American League team other than the Angels, Athletics, and White Sox.

The Blue Jays were also underdogs in their series against both the Yankees and Mariners en route to their first berth in the Fall Classic in more than 30 years. They’ll maintain that position as the underdog against the Dodgers, coming in at +180 according to our 2025 World Series odds.

Why the Dodgers Will Win

The Dodgers are basically what the Yankees used to be back in the late 1990s – a big market team with a seemingly unlimited budget that can attract all the top talent from both the MLB and all around the globe.

After signing Shohei Ohtani as a free agent in 2024, the Dodgers acquired even more talent in 2025 with the likes of Roki Saski and Blake Snell bolstering an already strong rotation.

Those moves have paid off in spades for the Dodgers, who own the third-best team ERA in the majors this postseason (2.45) as well as the MLB’s stingiest WHIP (1.02) and opponent batting average (.173). And we haven’t even talked about their star power at the plate.

The Dodgers hit more home runs and RBI than any team not named the Yankees during the regular season, led by none other than Ohtani, who will most likely cruise to his second straight National League MVP award after crushing 55 homers and 102 RBI. Oh, and he did that while starting 14 games on the mound, posting a 2.87 ERA and 1.04 WHIP.

Ohtani is batting just .220 this postseason, but he flexed all of his muscles in Game 4 of the NLCS when he rocked the Brewers for three home runs while also throwing 10 strikeouts over six innings – quite possibly the best single-game performance in MLB history.

Perhaps what the Blue Jays should fear most, though, is the Dodgers’ starting rotation. Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Ohtani are arguably all better than any starter the Jays can throw out there.

Add all of that together, and it’s clear why LA is favored to win another World Series.

Why the Blue Jays Will Win

The Blue Jays are the MLB’s best Cinderella story this season, so it’s only fitting that they’ll end the year in a true David vs. Goliath matchup against the big, bad Dodgers.

Many analysts and fans are already counting the Jays out against the Dodgers, calling for the reigning World Series champs to roll to an easy sweep. However, I wouldn’t be so quick to count out this Toronto team.

The Blue Jays may not boast the same star power as the Dodgers, but there’s just something about the way that they scrape together hits and solid at-bats that makes them so difficult to contain.

Lesser-known guys like Ernie Clement (.429 BA/1.063 SLG) and Nathan Lukes (.333 BA/.791 SLG) have transformed from minor leaguers into legitimate big league batters and some of Toronto’s best players this postseason.

The Jays’ depth and consistent approach at the plate helped them lead the majors in both team batting average (.265) and on-base percentage (.333) during the regular season, while they also ranked tied for third in RBI and OPS.

Toronto’s been even better in the postseason, leading the MLB by a landslide in basically every team hitting category, including hits, RBI, batting average (up to .296!), on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS.

But it’s not just team depth – the Blue Jays also boast the hottest hitter in baseball right now: Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Guerrero leads all batters in hits (19), home runs (6), RBI (12), slugging percentage (.930), and OPS (1.440) while hitting a ridiculous .442 through 11 games. He’s been better than anyone on the Dodgers, including Ohtani, and it’s not even close.

The Jays will also get a massive boost with Bo Bichette set to return from a knee injury that’s kept him sidelined since early September. Toronto’s starting shortstop led the club in hits, RBI, and batting average this season, so this scorching Blue Jays offense should be even more dangerous in the World Series.

Final Prediction – Who Will Win the 2025 World Series?

The Blue Jays make for a terrific underdog story, and I do think they’ll give the Dodgers more of a fight than some expect. However, ultimately, I have to side with LA’s star power and superior rotation to guide them to another World Series.

LA at -220 is not the most enticing bet, so I don’t mind spicing it up a bit and taking the Dodgers at -1.5 games (-120). In other words, the bet will cash if the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays in six games or fewer.

I think Toronto will take at least one off Los Angeles, but I don’t think the Dodgers will let this series get to Game 7.

2025 World Series MVP Odds

There’s no shortage of star power to choose from when it comes to predicting the 2025 World Series MVP.

The Dodgers boast a three-time regular-season MVP in Ohtani as well as last year’s World Series MVP in Freddie Freeman. Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have their own postseason standout in Guerrero Jr. and a former World Series MVP in George Springer.

Shohei Ohtani (+165)

Ohtani had another MVP-level regular season, but the two-way superstar has struggled at the dish through the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Ohtani is batting just .220 through 10 games this postseason with 17 strikeouts – the most on LA. The reigning NL MVP has made the most of his hits, though – five of his nine knocks have been home runs and he’s still got a healthy .967 OPS.

The Japanese star is also slated to make at least one start on the mound in this series. If he’s hitting and pitching well, it’ll be hard for anyone to top Ohtani’s bid as the 2025 World Series MVP.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+600)

The Blue Jays simply would not be in the World Series if it weren’t for Guerrero Jr.

The face of the franchise stepped up when his team needed him most, logging 10 hits, three home runs, a .385 average, and a 1.330 OPS against the Mariners en route to earning honors as the ALCS MVP.

Vladdy has arguably been the best player overall throughout this postseason, and the Jays will need that trend to continue if they’re going to win their first World Series since 1993.

George Springer (+1000)

George Springer has been the heart and soul of this Toronto team in 2025, and he proved that once again with the series-winning homer against the Mariners in Game 7.

After a couple of lackluster seasons, the 36-year-old has looked rejuvenated this year, posting a career-high .309 batting average and .959 OPS during the regular season. Springer’s four home runs and nine RBI are also second on the Blue Jays this postseason behind only Guerrero Jr.

Springer brings World Series pedigree to a relatively inexperienced Blue Jays team, and he could certainly claim his second World Series MVP award following his championship run with the Astros in 2017.

Freddie Freeman (+1200)

Freddie Freeman was named the 2024 World Series MVP after hitting a home run in each of the first four games of the series to go along with 12 RBI and a .300 average at the dish.

The Dodgers’ first baseman followed that up with another strong regular season, posting a .295 average as well as 90 RBI, second on LA behind Ohtani.

Like a few of his Dodgers teammates, Freeman has been inconsistent at the plate during the 2025 postseason, batting just .231 with only one RBI.

But Freeman was batting .219 with one RBI heading into last year’s World Series, so there’s always a chance the Dodgers slugger turns it on again in the championship round.

Final Prediction – Who Will Be Named 2025 World Series MVP?

If I had to pick the hottest player heading into the World Series, I’d go with Guerrero Jr. However, I’m also taking the Dodgers to win their second straight title.

The only player to be named World Series MVP while playing on the losing team was Yankees second baseman Bobby Richardson back in 1960, so I don’t envision Guerrero Jr. earning the honor if his Blue Jays fall short.

The obvious pick for 2025 World Series MVP is Shohei Ohtani at +165, who was just named NLCS MVP and has the unique potential to impact the game on both sides of the baseball.

My longshot pick is Teoscar Hernandez at +1600. The Dodgers outfielder (and former Blue Jay) leads LA with 11 RBI this postseason, while his four homers and 24 total bases trail only Ohtani for the most on the team.

Eight of the last 10 World Series MVPs have entered the Fall Classic at odds of +1500 or longer, so there’s a good chance there’s another surprise on the horizon.
