Nerd Verdict on Offensive Player of the Year
- Verdict: Bet on Justin Jefferson
- Best captured price: Lucky Rebel lists Jefferson at +2000 odds
- Break-even probability: 4.76%
- Target price: 10-1 odds or shorter
- Primary risk: Kyler Murray has struggled to stay healthy in the NFL.
- Confidence: Moderate – Jefferson has excelled with every QB not named JJ McCarthy.
Why Jefferson Will Win OPOY
Justin Jefferson had the worst year of his career last season, averaging career lows in the following categories:
- Yards per reception = 12.5 Y/R
- Receiving TDs = 2
- Receptions per game = 4.9 R/G
- Receiving yards per game = 59.6 YPG
- Yards per target = 7.4 yards
The good news for Jefferson is that Minnesota signed QB Kyler Murray this offseason. Murray has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but the former number one overall pick will be an upgrade over JJ McCarthy. A better QB will make it easier for Jefferson to return to his usual level of production and make a run at his second OPOY award.
NFL Defensive Player of the Year Odds Overview

| Myles Garrett | +400 | +400 | +450 |
| Will Anderson Jr. | +550 | +525 | +700 |
| Aidan Hutchinson | +800 | +700 | +850 |
| Maxx Crosby | +1400 | +1600 | +1400 |
| Nik Bonitto | +1400 | +1800 | +2200 |

| T.J. Watt | +2500 | +2000 | +2200 |
| Danielle Hunter | +2500 | +3000 | +2500 |
| Nick Bosa | +2600 | +2200 | +2200 |
| Jalen Carter | +2600 | +3000 | +2800 |
| Trey Hendrickson | +2600 | +2800 | +3300 |
Nerd Verdict on Defensive Player of the Year
- Verdict: Bet on Aidan Hutchinson
- Best captured price: Everygame lists Hutchinson at +850 odds
- Break-even probability: 10.53%
- Target price: 5-1 or shorter odds
- Primary risk: Detroit’s shallow CB room will struggle to cover receivers for more than a few seconds.
- Confidence: Moderate – Hutchinson has played at a DPOY level before and will have an edge as a pass rusher.
Why Hutchinson is the Best Bet for DPOY
All eyes are on Myles Garrett and the Rams as Super Bowl favorites this year, especially now that Aaron Donald has officially returned. However, with Garrett and Donald both on the field at the same time, it will be hard to argue that either is worthy of DPOY.
Hutchinson, on the other hand, is clearly the best player on a Lions’ defense that is looking to bounce back from a down year in 2025. The former Michigan Wolverine was playing at a DPOY level in 2024 before he broke his leg.
He returned last year and racked up a career-best 14.5 sacks en route to finishing fifth in DPOY voting. Now another year removed from that injury, Hutchinson should be even better and has a chance to lead the NFL in sacks this year.
NFL Comeback Player of the Year Odds Synopsis

| Jayden Daniels | +500 | +550 | +500 |
| Kyler Murray | +550 | +600 | +550 |
| Aaron Donald | +750 | +900 | +700 |
| Daniel Jones | +1200 | +1400 | +1400 |

| George Kittle | +3000 | +2500 | +2500 |
| Fred Warner | +3000 | +2800 | +2500 |
| Cam Skattebo | +3000 | +3000 | +2800 |
| Tucker Kraft | +3000 | +3000 | +2800 |
Nerd Verdict on Comeback Player of the Year
- Verdict: Bet on Patrick Mahomes
- Best captured price: BetUS has Mahomes listed at +185
- Break-even probability: 35.09%
- Target price: Even money
- Primary risk: Mahomes may struggle if his knee injury forces him to be a pocket passer.
- Confidence: High – Voters tend to favor QBs, and Mahomes has only missed the playoffs once in his career.
Mahomes’ CPOY Case
Patrick Mahomes is the overwhelming favorite for CPOY at +185 odds. The next closest player is Jayden Daniels, whose odds range from +500 to +550.
Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL last season but he is healthy now and expected to play in Week 1 against Denver. If he is healthy enough to power the Chiefs back to the playoffs, it will be hard to deny Mahomes the CPOY award. Also, since 2018, QBs have won every CPOY award except last year, when Christian McCaffrey won it.
More 2026 NFL Awards Odds
Football fans have even more NFL awards markets to bet on, including Coach of the Year, Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year, and Protector of the Year.
For more award odds, check out my breakdown of the 2026 NFL MVP odds.
Coach of the Year – Jesse Minter
- John Harbaugh (+650)
- Jesse Minter (+800)
- Kellen Moore (+1200)
- Brian Schottenheimer (+1200)
- Joe Brady (+1400)
- Robert Saleh (+1400)
BetUS has John Harbaugh as the +650 favorite to win Coach of the Year in his first year with the Giants. Harbaugh was fired as the Ravens’ HC after Baltimore missed the playoffs, but he quickly found a new home in the Big Apple.
Despite the odds, I like Jesse Minter, Harbaugh’s successor in Baltimore, better as a Coach of the Year pick. The Ravens have a better, more proven roster than the Giants, giving them a clearer path to the playoffs.
Offensive Rookie of the Year – Jadarian Price
- Jadarian Price (+500)
- Jeremiah Love (+500)
- Carnell Tate (+600)
- Fernando Mendoza (+600)
- De’Zhaun Stribling (+800)
Lucky Rebel has former Notre Dame RBs Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price tied at 5-1 odds to win OROY this season. Love was the higher pick, but Price is with a better team.
Price will be under the spotlight immediately as the RB1 for the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks. Love, on the other hand, will struggle to impress voters as Arizona has zero prime-time games this year.
Also, thanks to free agency and injuries, Price will be the head of the backfield for a team that tied for the 10th-most rushing YPG last season. If he stays healthy, Price is better positioned to win OROY than Love.
Defensive Rookie of the Year – Caleb Downs
- Rueben Bain Jr. (+450)
- David Bailey (+500)
- Caleb Downs (+700)
- Sonny Styles (+750)
- Arvell Reese (+850)
Everygame has Ruben Bain Jr. as the favorite to win DROY at +450. He is closely followed by David Bailey at 5-1 odds.
As good as Bain and Bailey are, I like Caleb Downs’ odds at +700. Downs is expected to play early and often for the Cowboys this season. Also, thanks to Dallas’s prime-time schedule, Downs will play in plenty of prime-time games.
If he is as good as advertised and helps turn around a Cowboys’ defense that allowed a league-high 30.1 PPG, Downs will be a strong contender for DROY at the end of the season.
Protector of the Year – Penei Sewell
- Penei Sewell (+450)
- Joe Alt (+750)
- Tristan Wirfs (+900)
- Lane Johnson (+1000)
- Garrett Bolles (+1400)
BetUS lists Lions’ tackle Penei Sewell as the +450 favorite to win the second-ever Protector of the Year award. Expectations are high across the board for the Detroit offense, and the Lions are favored to win the division.
Sewell has been a First-Team All-Pro for three straight years and even earned OPOY votes in 2024. He was also one of the six finalists for this award last year. Assuming the Lions bounce back from a down 2025, Sewell should be a finalist for POTY again this season.
The Market’s 2026 NFL Award Predictions
According to the oddsmakers, the winners of the top NFL awards this season will be:
| Award | Winner | BetUS | Lucky Rebel | Everygame |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Offensive Player of the Year | Jahmyr Gibbs | +575 | +600 | +650 |
| Defensive Player of the Year | Myles Garrett | +400 | +400 | +450 |
| Comeback Player of the Year | Patrick Mahomes | +185 | +185 | +185 |
| Coach of the Year | John Harbaugh | +650 | +675 | +650 |
| Offensive Rookie of the Year | Jeremiyah Love | +500 | +500 | +500 |
| Defensive Rookie of the Year | Rueben Bain Jr. | +450 | +475 | +450 |
| Protector of the Year | Penei Sewell | +450 | +450 | +475 |
BetUS, Lucky Rebel, and Everygame have the same overall favorites across all awards. The lone exception is OROY, where Jeremiyah Love is only tied for the best odds to win the award at 5-1 odds.
While the oddsmakers agree on the favorites, the odds for specific favorites differ. For instance, Jahmyr Gibbs is listed at +575 to win OPOY at BetUS, but Everygame has him at +650.
Tips and Trends for NFL Awards Betting
Factor in these tips and trends when making your NFL awards bets this year.
Know the Voters
Understanding the voting pool and its criteria for each award will help you identify the best picks. Protector of the Year, for instance, has a unique six-person committee formed by retired o-linemen instead of AP voters.
Factor in Injury Risks
Injuries can derail season-long awards bets. Talented players with extensive injury histories, such as Joe Burrow, are risky options.
Performance vs. Expectations
Outperforming expectations is the key to winning many awards, including Coach of the Year. This makes awards wagers a great chance to search for sleeper picks that are undervalued by the market.
What Are Your 2026 NFL Awards Predictions?
NFL awards odds are an excellent option for football fans searching for season-long bets. My top award prediction is for Justin Jefferson to win OPOY. Jefferson is available at 20-1 odds at Lucky Rebel.
