Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Buffalo Bills -5.5 (-115)
| Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | +5.5 (-105) | +219 | Over 48.0 (-105) |
| Buffalo Bills | -5.5 (-115) | -265 | Under 48.0 (115) |
The Buccaneers and the Bills, two prospective playoff teams, both lost last week, adding more intrigue to their showdown this Sunday.
Tampa Bay’s loss put its lead in the NFC South in jeopardy. The Bills’ loss was even more costly, putting them another game behind the Patriots in the race for the AFC East title.
Buffalo is a 5.5-point home favorite for this week’s game. Despite the odds, the Buccaneers are far from long shots to win. The Bills’ defense could not slow down Miami last week, and the Buccaneers will present an even bigger challenge.
The Bills give up 317.8 PG, but nearly half of that is on the ground. If the Buccaneers can exploit the holes in the Bills’ run defense, they can keep this game within 5.5 points and cover the spread.
- Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers +5.5 -105
Los Angeles Chargers -3.0 (-105) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
| Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles Chargers | -3.0 (-105) | -160 | Over 43.5 (-110) |
| Jacksonville Jaguars | +3.0 (-115) | +140 | Under 43.5 (-110) |
Another battle between playoff hopefuls pits the Chargers against the Jaguars in Jacksonville. These teams squared off in the Wild Card round in January 2023, with the Jags ending the Chargers’ season thanks to a massive comeback late in the game.
Jacksonville was on the wrong side of a similar collapse last week, giving up 26 points in the fourth quarter of their 36-29 loss to Houston.
LA, on the other hand, is coming off a 25-10 win over the Steelers on SNF. The Chargers are 3.0-point road favorites in this battle of AFC Wild Card teams.
A big reason the Chargers are favored is their defense, which allows just 280.2 YPG, the fourth-fewest in the NFL. Their 20.3 PPG allowed ranks eighth in the league. If LA’s defense continues to play like it has in recent weeks, the Chargers will secure the road win this week.
Jacksonville also has a great defense and is currently second in the NFL with 17 forced turnovers. It was interceptions that did Justin Herbert and the Chargers in during their playoff matchup with the Jags. Herbert must have better control of the ball this time around if LA is going to win this tough road matchup.
- Prediction: Los Angeles Chargers -160
Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams -3.0 (-118)
| Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seattle Seahawks | +3.0 (-102) | +144 | Over 48.5 (-110) |
| Los Angeles Rams | -3.0 (-118) | -164 | Under 48.5 (-110) |
One of the biggest divisional matchups of the weekend sees the Seahawks (7-2) take on the Rams (7-2) in LA. Seattle has won 10 consecutive road games, but it is a 3.0-point underdog at SoFi this week.
These teams sport two of the best offenses in the NFL, including:
| Seattle Seahawks | Los Angeles Rams |
|---|---|
| 360.4 YPG (9th) | 373.3 YPG (5th) |
| 246.1 passing YPG (6th) | 259.9 passing YPG (2nd) |
| 30.6 PPG (3rd) | 27.9 PPG (5th) |
LA gains more yards on average than Seattle, but the Seahawks score more points. However, there is one major flaw that could derail Seattle’s chances of pulling off the upset this weekend. The Seahawks have 16 giveaways this season, tied for the second-most in the NFL.
The Rams, for comparison, have only turned the ball over seven times, tied for the sixth-fewest in the league. Seattle’s turnover issues will be its downfall this week, and the Rams will win this pivotal NFC West matchup.
- Prediction: Los Angeles Rams -3 -118
Kansas City Chiefs -4.0 (-105) vs. Denver Broncos
| Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kansas City Chiefs | -4.0 (-105) | -202 | Over 44.5 (-110) |
| Denver Broncos | +4.0 (-115) | +175 | Under 44.5 (-110) |
Another highly anticipated divisional showdown this week is Kansas City vs. Denver. The Broncos lead the AFC West at 8-2, thanks in large part to their dominant defense. However, concerns about Denver’s offense are at an all-time high after its 10-7 win over Las Vegas last week.
Kansas City had a bye last week, giving Patrick Mahomes and company extra time to prepare for this all-important road game. The Chiefs (5-4) need to win this game to keep their hopes of winning the division alive.
Despite the difference in records, KC is laying 4.0 points as a road favorite at Mile High this Sunday.
Denver’s defense leads the NFL in sacks with 46 so far this season. Sacking Mahomes is easier said than done, and the Broncos’ secondary will be under extra pressure this week as Patrick Surtain II could miss another game. Given their offensive issues and the potential absence of the reigning DPOY, it is tough to imagine the Broncos securing the upset this week.
- Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -202
Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles -2.5 (-115)
| Team | Point Spread | Moneyline | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Detroit Lions | +2.5 (-105) | +132 | Over 46.5 (-112) |
| Philadelphia Eagles | -2.5 (-115) | -152 | Under 46.5 (-108) |
This week’s Sunday Night Football matchup is the NFC Championship game fans were expecting last year. The Lions (6-3) take on the Eagles (7-2) in Philadelphia. The winner will have a huge advantage in the race for this year’s number one seed in the NFC.
The Eagles scored 10 points in the second half of MNF last week to secure a 10-7 win at Lambeau. Philadelphia’s passing offense has struggled all year, managing fewer than 200 passing YPG.
Detroit, on the other hand, has one of the most productive offenses in the league, racking up 372.4 total YPG and 31.4 PPG.
Philly’s struggles have been well-documented, but the Eagles have consistently found ways to win. They are 2.5-point favorites at home against the Lions this weekend.
This game will come down to which team wins the battle in the trenches. Jared Goff is significantly worse when pressured often, and Philly has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL. The Lions will have a plan for beating the pressure, though, and are in a great position to pull off the upset against a struggling Philly offense.
- Prediction: Detroit Lions +132
