The odds suggest a two-man race between Pogačar and Vingegaard, and the odds fade quickly as a result. Remco Evenepoel has the third-best odds at +800. João Almeida and Primož Roglič round out the top five at 16-1 and 20-1, respectively.

Top 2025 Tour de France Contenders
The Tour de France is the premier event in the Grand Tour. Here are the top contenders to win the 2025 Tour de France general classification.
Tadej Pogačar (-225)
Tadej Pogačar won his first Tour de France in 2020. He followed up that win with another first place in 2021. However, after starting his Tour de France career with back-to-back wins, Pogačar then finished second in 2022 and 2023.
Both of his runner-up finishes came behind Jonas Vingegaard. Last year, facing a potential third straight loss to Vingegaard, Pogačar was able to pull out the victory and win his third Tour de France.
So far in 2025, Pogačar has already won the following races:
- Tour of Flanders
- Liège–Bastogne–Liège
- Strade Bianche
- La Flèche Wallonne
Pogačar also finished second at the Paris-Roubaix and the Amstel Gold Race. He came in third at this year’s Milan-San Remo, tying his career-best finish from last year.
Jonas Vingegaard (+225)
The only man who has prevented a five-peat by Pogačar in the Tour de France is Jonas Vingegaard. After Pogačar won back-to-back Tour de France races in 2020 and 2021, Vingegaard beat him not once, but twice in the event.
Vingegaard failed in his three-peat attempt last year. However, he did finish second and has finished in the top two each of the last four years.
Having won one two of the last three races, it is no surprise that Vingegaard has the second-best odds to win the 2025 Tour de France at +225. He has beaten Pogačar in this event twice before, but there is no guarantee that he will do it again.
Vingegaard won the 2025 Volta ao Algarve, ending a six-month winning drought. However, at Paris-Nice, he crashed with just 84 KM remaining. Vingegaard was leading at the time of his crash, but the injuries from the crash, which included a concussion and a hand contusion, caused him to withdraw from the event.
Remco Evenepoel (+800)
The distant third in the current Tour de France odds for 2025 is Remco Evenepoel. He is listed at 8-1 odds to win the general classification in the race for the first time in his career.
Evenepoel has had mixed results in his Grand Tour career thus far. Evenepoel has appeared twice in the Giro d’Italia, but he did not finish either time. In 2022, he won the Vuelta a España in his debut but finished 12th the next year.
He made his Tour de France debut last year, finishing third. Evenepoel was + 9’ 18” behind Pogačar in 2024.
So far, Evenepoel only has one win in 2025. He claimed victory at the 2025 Brabantse Pijl. Evenepoel’s other notable finishes in 2025 include:
- 3rd in the Amstel Gold Race
- 5th in the Tour de Romandie
- 9th in the La Flèche Wallonne
Evenepoel did appear in the Liège–Bastogne–Liège, but he finished 59th. He attributed his poor finish to his ongoing recovery from injuries suffered in December. Evenepoel collided with a postal vehicle while training, incurring numerous injuries that included fractured ribs, a dislocated collarbone, and more.
João Almeida (+1600)
Rounding out the top five is João Almeida, who is available at +1600 odds to win the 2025 Tour de France. Almeida finished fourth in last year’s Tour de France.
Despite his top-five finish last year, Almeida faces an uphill battle to improve his positioning this year. He is teammates with Pogačar. Almeida, Pogačar, and Adam Yates won the team classification last year.
Being teammates with the favorite has its advantages. However, with Pogačar as the unquestioned leader of the group, it is unlikely that Almeida will have the opportunity to pass him.
Crashes and injuries can happen at any time, though, so Almeida is not entirely out of contention for the Coupe Omnisports. So far in 2025, Almeida has won the Tour of the Basque Country and the Tour de Romandie.
2025 Tour de France Dark Horses & Sleeper Picks
Pogačar is my pick to win the Tour de France, but you can never count out an upset in one of the toughest cycling events. Two sleepers I recommend watching in this year’s Tour de France are Matteo Jorgenson and Adam Yates.
Matteo Jorgenson (+5000)
In 2024, Matteo Jorgenson finished eighth in the Tour de France, the best finish of any American. He is listed at +5000 to win the race in 2025.
Jorgenson would be the first recognized winner of the race from the US since Greg LeMond won back-to-back Tour de France races in 1989 and 1990. He won the Paris-Nice earlier this year, his second consecutive win, and came second in last year’s Critérium du Dauphiné.
Adam Yates (+20000)
Another dark horse to watch this year is Adam Yates. As mentioned above, Yates, along with Almeida and Pogačar, won the team designation last year. Yates finished sixth last year but is listed at +20000 to win the 2025 Tour de France.
The strength of the UAE Team Emirates XRG makes any member a threat to win. If Pogačar or Almeida fall out of the race, Yates could swoop in for the win.
Tour de France Betting Tips
The Tour de France is one of the most prestigious cycling events of the year. Here are three tips to help you find success betting on this annual race.
Consider Recent Performances
Momentum can play a significant role in a long race like the Tour de France. One way to build momentum is by winning races leading up to the event. Bettors should consider how competitors have fared in other events during the 2025 season.
Prior Tour de France Experience is Important
Another factor to consider is the previous Tour de France experience of each cyclist. Having a team of experienced cyclists can also provide a major advantage in this 3,500-kilometer race. The general classification winner was also part of the team classification winner in back-to-back years.
Shop for Odds and Bonuses
Finally, bettors should prioritize finding a secure sports betting site that will meet their needs. In addition to considering things like banking options and the UI, you should also account for the odds themselves and bonus options.
Shopping for competitive Tour de France odds is the only surefire way to maximize your betting value. Finding sites that offer the best value for the cyclist you want to bet on is key.
Sports betting bonuses are another option for maximizing your bankroll. Bonuses with high deposit matches and relatively low rollover requirements will help you get more out of betting on the Tour de France.
2025 Tour de France Prediction
Who will win the Tour de France 2025? Tadej Pogačar (-225) is the favorite and has won three of the last five La Grande Boucles. With a strong team around him and coming off a dominant 2024, I think Pogačar will come out on top in the general classification once again.
How to Bet on the Tour de France in 2025
Tadej Pogačar is the odds-on favorite in the opening Tour de France 2025 odds. He is the defending champion, and I think he will win the race again this year.
