2025 MLB MVP Odds & Predictions
The early MLB MVP odds in 2025 show Aaron Judge running away with the award in the American League. Judge has won the award twice before, including last season. In the National League, the odds are much closer, but defending MVP Shohei Ohtani is the favorite to win again.
This guide will analyze the current 2025 AL and NL MVP odds at top baseball betting sites. I will tell you which players stand out as early contenders, break down the odds for the leading contenders, and give my MLB MVP predictions for 2025.
Early Season MVP Standouts
Less than 50 games into the 2025 regular season, several players have already started making their case for the MVP.
Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani’s annual home run race has propelled both stars to the top of the MBP leaderboards once again. With over 100 games left, there is still plenty of time for other players to earn MVP honors.
AL MVP Contenders
The MVP race in the American League is once again led by Yankees’ star Aaron Judge. New York’s star right fielder leads the league with 15 home runs through 46 games. Judge also has 41 RBIs, 70 hits, and 30 walks this season.
Judge has a huge lead, but he is not the only player in the AL who will earn MVP considerations. Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr. only has five homers this year, but he leads all of MLB with 17 doubles this year.
Other sleepers to keep an eye on in the AL include:
- Alex Bregman
- Gunnar Henderson
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
- Wyatt Langford
Bregman is tied for fifth in the AL with 56 hits in 47 games and has 11 home runs. Henderson’s stats lag behind the other MVP candidates, but the Orioles star has only appeared in 38 games.
NL MVP Contenders
The race for the NL MVP is much closer than the AL’s. Ohtani has won the award in back-to-back years and will remain a contender for the duration of his prime. The two-way star leads all of MLB with 16 home runs.
Ohtani could also resume pitching in a few months, which may lock up his fourth career MVP award. Even if he does not retake the mound this year, Ohtani’s impact at the plate is more than enough to make him an MVP frontrunner.
Fernando Tatis Jr., Corbin Carroll, and Kyle Tucker are the top contenders so far who can dethrone Ohtani. All three have double-digit homers and are in the top 10 for home runs in the NL. Carroll (32) and Tucker (33) also have more RBIs than Ohtani (30).
Top Favorites to Win MLB MVP
Let’s take a closer look at the top five contenders for MVP this season in the MLB.
Aaron Judge
Aaron Judge started his defense of the AL MVP with a 3 HR, 8 RBI performance in the second game of the season. The Yankees dominated Milwaukee 20-9 that game, largely due to Judge’s efforts at the plate.
Since then, Judge has been at or near the top of the AL home run leaderboard. But hitting homers is not the only way Judge has succeeded this season. New York’s star hitter leads the MLB in the following categories:
- .401 batting average (1st)
- .490 on-base percentage (1st)
- .751 slugging percentage (1st)
- 1.241 OPS (1st)
- 71 hits (1st)
Judge set career highs last year with 180 hits and 144 RBIs. He also sent 58 balls out of the stadium, nearly breaking his personal record of 62. If he keeps up his current pace, Judge could break all those records and more.
Shohei Ohtani
Everyone in the NL MVP race is chasing Shohei Ohtani. The two-way star has won the MVP in three of his last four seasons. Ohtani is under extra pressure this year as he and the Dodgers attempt to repeat as World Series champions.
His 16 homers lead the MLB, and his 57 hits are tied for fifth. Ohtani’s other notable stats through his 45 games played this year include:
- 50 runs (1st in MLB)
- .408 OBP (5th in MLB)
- .665 SLG (3rd in MLB)
- 1.073 OPS (3rd in MLB)
Ohtani has been impressive, but the Dodgers are loaded with talent, so it will be challenging for him to solidify himself as the MVP. Freddie Freeman and Will Smith, for instance, both have better batting averages and OBP’s than Ohtani. Freeman also has a better OPS.
Bobby Witt Jr.
Bobby Witt Jr. is the player best positioned to catch Judge in the AL MVP race. He finished second to Judge in the AL MVP race last season. The Royals’ shortstop has 56 hits, including an MLB-high 17 doubles, in his 48 games this season.
Witt Jr. also has 16 stolen bases, tied for the second-most in the majors. His .879 OPS is tied for eighth in the AL.
The biggest hole in Witt Jr.’s MVP case so far this season is his lack of home runs. Witt Jr. has 30+ homers in back-to-back seasons. However, he has only gone yard five times so far this year in his 185 at-bats.
Fernando Tatis Jr.
After nearly having his career derailed by injuries and a PED suspension, Fernando Tatis Jr. was voted to his second All-Star team last season. The San Diego Padres’ star has 52 hits so far, tied for the eighth-most in the NL, 12 home runs, and 27 RBIs.
Tatis Jr. is top 10 in the NL with a .936 OPS rating this season. He also has a WAR rating of 3.0, the third-best in MLB and second only to Pete Crow-Armstrong in the NL. His first career walk-off homer has also helped Tatis Jr. climb the MVP leaderboards.
Corbin Carroll
Another NL MVP contender to watch is Corbin Carroll. The Diamondbacks’ right fielder has 55 hits this season, which ranks fourth in the NL.
Carroll’s MVP case also includes the following stats:
- 14 HRs (t-3rd in the NL)
- 5 triples (1st in the NL)
- 32 RBIs (12th in the NL)
- .941 OPS (8th in the NL)
Carroll is on an All-Star pace, but he must do more to become the MVP. Keeping pace with Ohtani in home runs throughout the season is easier said than done. However, Carroll has done it so far and will be ready to slide into the MVP frontrunner spot if Ohtani takes a step back.

2025 AL MVP Odds | 2025 NL MVP Odds |
Aaron Judge (-2500) | Shohei Ohtani (+100) |
Bobby Witt Jr. (+1300) | Fernando Tatis Jr. (+400) |
Alex Bregman (+5000) | Corbin Carroll (+550) |
Corey Seager (+5000) | Kyle Tucker (+650) |
Gunnar Henderson (+5000) | Pete Alonso (+900) |
Jose Ramirez (+5000) | Juan Soto (+1300) |
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (+5000) | Freddie Freeman (+1400) |
Wyatt Langford (+5000) | Jackson Merrill (+2000) |
Yordan Alvarez (+5000) | Francisco Lindor (+2500) |
Adley Rutschman (+5500) | Austin Riley (+5000) |
Aaron Judge is a -2500 favorite at secure sports betting sites to repeat as the MVP in the AL. Shohei Ohtani is also favored to repeat, but the Dodgers’ star is only an even-money favorite in the NL. Bobby Witt, Jr. (+1300) and Fernando Tatis, Jr. (+400) are the closest threats to Judge and Ohtani, respectively.
In the NL, Bryce Harper, Elly De La Cruz, and Pete Crow-Armstrong are tied with Austin Riley at +5000 odds for MVP.
AL MVP Prediction
At -2500, it is challenging to imagine Aaron Judge not winning the AL MVP this season. His current odds offer an implied win probability of 96.15%.
With that in mind, it is tough to make an American League MVP prediction than Judge. Assuming he stays healthy and avoids a season-long slump, Judge will bring another MVP award to The Bronx.
NL MVP Prediction
Shohei Ohtani is the even-money favorite to win the NL MVP again in 2025. He leads the MLB in homers, but Ohtani is not nearly as heavy a favorite in the NL as Judge is in the AL.
Ohtani’s MVP case could be decided by pending return to the mound. If he fails to live up to the expectations of being a two-way superstar, the voters could hold his shortcomings against him. The talent around Ohtani also raises the bar to nearly unreachable levels.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (+400), on the other hand, can focus solely on his work at the plate. Also, the Padres have much lower expectations than the Dodgers. I think Tatis Jr. will win the MVP, preventing Ohtani from three-peating this season.
