Donald Trump 2nd in Nobel Peace Prize Betting Odds

Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize campaign is off to a rocky start in 2025. The President still has time to turn things around, but he may have to cut back on his trips to the golf course if he wants to secure the awards.

This guide highlights the top contenders for the Nobel using odds from the top sports betting sites. I will analyze the top contenders and break down Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize odds.

Is Trump Nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize?

First things first, is Trump a nominee to win the Nobel Peace Prize? The 34-time convicted felon was nominated for the award by Ukrainian politician Oleksandr Merezhko. However, Merezhko “lost faith” in Trump and pulled his nomination.

Three nominees are tied at 10-1 odds to win the Nobel, inlcuding Antonio Guterres, Julian Assange, and David Attenborough.

Yulia Navalnaya (-200)

Russian political leader Yulia Navalnaya is the -200 favorite to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Her husband, Alexei Navalny, was one of the main leaders of the opposition to Vladimir Putin.

Following her husband’s death in 2024, Navalnaya assumed the mantle of leading the opposition party. She has won multiple awards for her and her late husband’s work.

Some of the awards Navalnaya won in 2024 include:

• Magnitsky Human Rights Awards
• La Vanguardia Prize (Premios Vanguardia), International category
• DW Freedom of Speech Award, awarded to Yulia Navalnaya and the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation
• Award of the Patriarchate of Constantinople

Last April, Navalnaya was named to the Time 100 Most Influential People of 2024.

Donald Trump (+450)

Navalnaya is not the only political leader who has used their position to create a more peaceful world. President Trump, for instance, has made several attempts to generate peace in the US and across the globe.

Some of Trump’s peace-minded efforts since taking office in January of 2025 include:

• Bombing three nuclear sites in Iran
• Defunding USAID
• Spending 10s of millions in taxpayers’ money to play golf

Trump’s recent efforts also include pressuring reluctant Republicans into passing his “Big, Beautiful Bill.” The bill grants tax cuts to billionaires in exchange for cutting millions from public assistance programs.

He also appeared at the opening of the controversial Florida detention facility, “Alligator Alcatraz.”

António Guterres (+1000)

Three nominees are tied at 10-1 for the third-best odds to win the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize. The first is António Guterres, a Portuguese politician who is currently serving as the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Guterres’s role in the UN could give him a unique edge over the other nominees.

The World Food Programme, a UN program that provides food to countries in need across the globe, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2020. UN programs have won the award a total of nine times. Multiple winners, including the International Labor Organization (1969) and Lester Bowles Pearson (1957), won the award for their work with the UN.

Guterres was nominated last year for his efforts to end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza.

Julian Assange (+1000)

Another potential nominee tied at +1000 odds to win the Nobel Prize is Julian Assange. Like Guterres, Assange was nominated in 2024 but did not win.

Assange has not won the Nobel, but the controversial journalist has won other awards for his peace efforts, such as:

Best known as the founder of WikiLeaks, Assange was nominated by Sofi Marhaug. A member of the left-wing Norwegian Red Party, Marhaug nominated Assange for his attempts to expose Western war crimes.

His efforts to uncover these alleged crimes drew the ire of governments from across the globe, including the US. Assange spent years avoiding extradition in London at the Ecuadorian embassy.

Last year, Assange reached a plea deal with US prosecutors. He pleaded guilty to violating the Espionage Act and was sentenced to 62 months’ time served.

David Attenborough (+1000)

Rounding out the top five nominees is David Attenborough. The famous British narrator and filmmaker has spent over 70 years advocating for wildlife causes.

Attenborough was one of the key speakers at the first-ever Nobel Prize Summit in 2021. The summit explored options for addressing climate concerns, seeking solutions that could be implemented over the next decade.

Despite a career spanning over seven decades, Attenborough has yet to win the Nobel Prize. However, he has been widely recognized for his conservation efforts. A few of his accolades include:

Instead, I would bet either Yulia Navalnaya (-200) or David Attenborough (+1000). Navalnaya is the favorite, and opposing the Russian government is a great way to get the committee’s attention. Attenborough, on the other hand, has a resume that stretches back decades and has worked with the Nobel Foundation before.
