Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua Odds and Predictions

This weekend’s Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua fight could change the course of both men’s careers. A loss by Paul would take some of the shine off the Problem Child’s professional boxing aspirations. Joshua, on the other hand, would never be taken seriously again if he comes up short.

Paul vs. Joshua is set for this Friday, December 19th, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. Continue reading to see the latest betting odds and a full breakdown of my Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul predictions.

Is Jake Paul Fighting Anthony Joshua?

Yes, Jake Paul is stepping up in weight class to fight former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. More importantly, you can wager on this unlikely matchup using the best boxing betting sites.

At his peak, Joshua was 22-0 and owned the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. However, his infamous loss to Andy Ruiz Jr. in June 2019 started his career on a downward trajectory.

Joshua beat Ruiz Jr. in the rematch, but he has lost three of his last eight fights since. He is 28-4 coming off a loss to Daniel Dubois for the IBF Heavyweight title in September 2024.

Paul was supposed to fight Gervonta “Tank” Davis in November, but the Paul vs. Davis fight was canceled due to Davis’s ongoing legal issues. Instead, Paul worked out a deal to fight Joshua. Paul had a 60+ pound weight advantage against Davis, but he will need to pack on weight to fight Joshua, who weighed in at over 250 pounds for his last fight.

Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua Fight Details

As is often the case for Paul’s “fights,” there are unique rules for this upcoming matchup with Joshua.

  • Eight, three-minute rounds
  • 10 oz gloves
  • 245 pounds weight limit

Joshua has not weighed under 245 pounds for a fight since his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in August 2022. Paul, on the other hand, has only fought at above 200 pounds once, when he weighed 227 pounds for his exhibition with Mike Tyson.

This will also be Joshua’s first fight in the US since losing to Ruiz Jr. in 2019, and his first fight not scheduled for double-digit rounds since 2015.

Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua Odds

Here are the latest Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua odds, courtesy of BetOnline.

FighterOdds to WinTotal Rounds
Jake Paul+628Over 2.5 (-135)
Anthony Joshua-1200Under 2.5 (+105)

Paul has won six straight fights, but he is a +628 underdog for Friday’s contest. Joshua, conversely, is a heavy favorite at -1200.

His current odds give Joshua an implied win probability of 92.31%.

Also, oddsmakers have this fight listed as a slight favorite at -135 to go over 2.5 rounds. The under is listed at +105 odds in the latest betting markets.

Jake Paul (+628)

Jake Paul’s highly criticized boxing career drew even more criticism after he booked a fight with Tank Davis. Paul would have had a massive size and weight advantage over Tank.

This week’s fight with Anthony Joshua puts Paul on the wrong side of the size advantage. At 6’1 with a 76” reach, Paul will be the smaller man in this fight. For comparison, Joshua is 6’6 and has an 82” reach. Joshua is also expected to have a 15- to 20-pound weight advantage.

A massive size disadvantage is not the only hurdle Paul must overcome this week. Joshua (28-4) has 13 world title fights, the same number of fights that Paul (12-1) has in his whole professional career.

Experience and size are against Paul this weekend, so it comes as no surprise that he is a +628 underdog. However, Paul does have knockout power and could surprise Joshua early. Joshua has been knocked out twice in his career, including in his last fight.

Anthony Joshua (-1200)

The heavy betting favorite in this Friday’s fight is Anthony Joshua at -1200 odds. Prior to his loss to Dubois in their IBF Heavyweight championship fight, Joshua had won five straight fights to get back into title contention.

A 28-4 professional record is impressive enough, but Joshua has also earned 25 of his career wins by knockout. He has also never lost a fight that did not have a major title on the line.

Joshua is 6-4 in his last 10 fights, but three of those losses came against Oleksandr Usyk (twice) and Daniel Dubois, two of the best heavyweights in the world. Paul will be a much easier matchup for the former champion.

As long as he does not underestimate Paul’s power early, Joshua’s size and experience advantages make him nearly impossible to beat in this fight. The bigger question will be whether he can knock out Paul within the eight-round limit.

Joshua stopped three of his last four opponents in seven rounds or fewer.

Over/Under 2.5 Rounds

The over/under for this fight is set at 2.5 rounds, with the over a small favorite at -135.

Paul has skills as a boxer, but Joshua’s power and size should allow him to take control of this fight early. On the other hand, a longer and more entertaining fight could give Joshua a better payday for this Netflix exclusive.

Paul vs. Joshua Prop Odds

Paul vs. Joshua Method of Victory

  • Anthony Joshua by decision (+475)
  • Jake Paul by decision (+1000)
  • Jake Paul by KO, TKO, or DQ (+1100)
  • Draw (+1600)

One of the most popular props in boxing is the method-of-victory market. For this fight between Paul and Joshua, the former champion is a -400 favorite to beat Paul by KO, TKO, or DQ. This outcome with the second-best odds is a Joshua win by decision at +475.

The most likely option for an upset win by Paul is for the former YouTube star to win by decision at 10-1 odds. A Paul win by KO, TKO, or DQ is listed at +1100. A draw has the longest odds at +1600.

Joshua has earned 25 of his 28 career wins by KO. Also, for what it is worth, Paul has seven KOs in his 12 career wins.

The outcome with the shortest odds in this prop is for Joshua to win in the opening round. Joshua is listed at +175 odds to end the fight in the first three minutes. He is also available at +225 and +550 to win in the second and third rounds, respectively.

Likewise, the shortest odds for Paul to win are also with a first round victory. However, El Gallo is listed at 25-1 odds to win in the opening round, much longer odds than an early win by Joshua.

Alternate Winning Round Props

Round GroupingPaul WinsJoshua Wins
Rounds 1 or 2+1400+100
Rounds 3 or 4+2500+375
Rounds 5 or 6+4000+850
Rounds 7 or 8+4000+1300

Another option for betting on the winning round is this alternate round prop. In this market, two rounds are grouped together, increasing your chances of picking the right option.

The favorite is a win by Joshua in the first two rounds at +100 odds. Next is a win by Joshua in rounds three or four at +375 odds. All of the options for a Joshua win in this market have shorter odds than those for a Jake Paul win.

Paul’s best odds in this market are a win in the opening two rounds at +1400 odds. His odds of winning in the latter rounds are tied for the longest odds in this market at +4000 each in the last two groups of rounds.

Anthony Joshua vs. Jake Paul Predictions

Here are my official Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua predictions:

  • Anthony Joshua wins (-1200)
  • Over 2.5 rounds (-135)
  • Anthony Joshua by KO, TKO, or DQ (-400)
  • Anthony Joshua wins in Round 4 (+1200)
  • Anthony Joshua wins in rounds 3 or 4 (+375)

Joshua should win this fight in impressive fashion by knocking out Paul. However, I do think that Paul can be elusive enough to survive the first two rounds.
