At long last, the NBA Finals are upon us. The Indiana Pacers will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in a matchup between 2 teams looking to win the NBA title for the first time. Oklahoma City’s presence in the Finals is hardly a surprise following their dominant regular season, yet few expected Indiana to represent the Eastern Conference in the championship round.

OKC was already a -225 favorite to win the 2025 NBA championship after they beat Minnesota in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. After dispatching the Timberwolves in five games, the Thunder’s title odds have shortened to -675.
Indiana, despite upsetting the Knicks in six games, is a +460 underdog to take down OKC. The Pacers have already made history in this postseason and will look to continue to do so in their first Finals appearance since 2000.

Oklahoma City Thunder (-675)
The Thunder were my championship prediction at the start of the season for one reason: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. I picked SGA to win the NBA MVP en route to leading the Thunder to the Finals.
SGA won MVP, and now the Thunder are -675 favorites to win the 2025 NBA championship. They face the Pacers in the Finals, a team they beat in both of their regular-season matchups.
OKC had the best record in the West last season, but their inexperience cost them in the postseason. The Thunder took what they learned in their second-round loss last year and grew from it. After dominating the regular season again, OKC has looked almost unbeatable this time around in the playoffs.
Denver did push OKC to seven games in round two, but Memphis and Minnesota only combined for one win against the Thunder.
The Thunder have allowed just 106.3 PPG by opponents this postseason, the fewest of any remaining team. They also have a great offense, averaging 117.1 PPG, just behind Indiana’s 117.4.
Indiana Pacers (+460)
Indiana’s magical postseason run includes thrilling comebacks against Milwaukee, Cleveland, and the Knicks. The Pacers’ offense was a major reason why I picked them to upset the Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Secure sports betting sites had the Pacers listed at +750 to win the title ahead of their ECF series with New York. Indiana eliminated the Knicks with a dominant Game 6 performance, but their title odds only shortened to +460.
Indiana’s offense has been great this postseason, but OKC will be the toughest defense they have faced in the playoffs. The Pacers’ defense has also allowed 113.3 PPG this postseason, the fourth-most of any team during the 2025 playoffs.
This is a mismatch on paper, but you cannot count out the Pacers completely. Tyrese Haliburton and ECF MVP Pascal Siakam have been one of the best duos in the 2025 playoffs. Indiana’s role players, such as Aaron Nesmith, have also stepped up in big spots this postseason.

Bovada has the Thunder listed as more likely to sweep Indiana (+300) than the Pacers to win the series in any amount of games. The shortest odds for an Indiana win are for the Pacers to steal home court and win in six games (+1100).
I think the Pacers avoid the sweep, but they will not win the series or even push it to a game seven. The best value of the remaining options is for OKC to win in six games at +410, so that is my pick.
