New Jersey has one of the most established regulated online casino markets in the United States. Licensed casino sites connected to Atlantic City casinos offer a wide range of real money gambling options, and the state has become a model for regulated online gaming.

Even with this mature market, many players quickly discover that the regulated experience can feel restrictive. Bonus offers are often modest, game libraries are tied to specific operators, and withdrawal times may be slower than expected. Because of this, many New Jersey players look beyond the state system when searching for additional real money casino options online.

This is where offshore casino sites enter the picture. These online casinos accept players from New Jersey and typically provide much larger welcome bonuses, broader game libraries, and faster banking options such as cryptocurrency withdrawals.

Our team tested the most popular offshore casino sites that welcome New Jersey players and ranked them based on payout speed, bonus value, game selection, and overall reliability. The sites featured in this guide stand out for offering large promotions, extensive game libraries, and payment methods designed for fast and convenient withdrawals.

If you want to see which real money casino sites are currently the best options for players in New Jersey, the rankings below will help you compare the top choices.

Why New Jersey Players Explore Offshore Casino Sites

New Jersey has one of the most mature regulated online casino markets in the United States. Major brands such as BetMGM, Caesars, and Resorts Digital operate licensed casino sites under the supervision of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).

Even with this well established system, many players still explore offshore casino sites for additional options. This does not mean the regulated market lacks quality. Instead, it reflects the fact that international casino websites often offer features that are structured differently from state licensed operators.

Based on player feedback and our own testing, these are the most common reasons New Jersey players look beyond the regulated casino apps.

1. Larger Welcome Bonuses

One of the biggest differences between regulated casino sites and offshore casinos is the size of welcome promotions.

Licensed New Jersey operators typically offer deposit matches or bonus credits that range from moderate promotional offers to larger first deposit packages tied to wagering requirements.

Offshore casino sites often compete by offering much larger match bonuses, sometimes ranging from 200% to 500% on an initial deposit, along with additional free spins.

For example, a player depositing $500 at some offshore casino sites may receive significantly more bonus funds compared with typical regulated promotions. For players who enjoy extended gameplay and promotional offers, these larger bonuses can be appealing.

2. Larger Game Libraries

New Jersey online casinos offer hundreds of real money games, including slots, blackjack, roulette, and live dealer titles from major software developers.

Offshore casino sites often advertise even larger libraries, sometimes exceeding 1,000 to 1,500 games. This is largely because international casino websites work with many different game studios simultaneously.

In contrast, games offered on regulated New Jersey casino sites must meet specific compliance and certification standards before they are approved for use. While this ensures strict oversight, it can also slow the expansion of game libraries.

3. Cryptocurrency Banking Options

Another difference is the availability of cryptocurrency banking.

Most regulated New Jersey casino sites focus on traditional payment methods such as:

  • debit and credit cards
  • online banking transfers
  • PayPal and other digital wallets

Many offshore casino sites also support cryptocurrency payments such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin. Players who use crypto often prefer it because transactions can be processed quickly and may avoid certain banking restrictions.

Crypto withdrawals at offshore casino sites are sometimes processed faster than traditional bank transfers, although processing times still vary depending on the casino.

4. Access While Traveling

Licensed New Jersey casino sites require players to be physically located within state borders in order to access real money games. This requirement is enforced through geolocation technology.

For players who travel frequently or spend time outside the state, this restriction means regulated casino apps may not function while they are away from New Jersey.

Some offshore casino websites do not use the same geolocation restrictions, which allows players to access their accounts from different locations.

5. Different Game Variations and Software Providers

Offshore casino sites frequently partner with a wide range of international game developers. This can lead to different versions of casino games or titles that are not always available in regulated markets.

Some players enjoy exploring these additional game variations, especially when they want access to niche slot titles or unique table game formats.

How We Evaluate New Jersey Online Casinos

How We Tested and Ranked New Jersey Offshore Casinos

We believe transparency matters when recommending casino sites. Many online lists simply repeat the same casino names without explaining how those recommendations were made.

For this guide, the GamblingNerd team carefully evaluated each offshore casino on the page using a consistent review process that focuses on payout reliability, bonus value, game selection, and overall player experience.

We only recommend US online casinos that excel in these areas:

account

Availability in New Jersey

First, an online casino must be available in New Jersey. You should be able to access the site via any phone, desktop or laptop in the Garden State, without using a VPN.

Most regulated sites and apps have issues with geolocation services. You need to prove that you are in New Jersey when using them, and the software can malfunction if it cannot pinpoint your location. That is not an issue with offshore casinos, which do not require geolocation.

shield-with-check

Player Reputation Checks

We reviewed Trustpilot, Reddit (r/onlinegambling, r/sportsbook), and AskGamblers for patterns in player complaints. One or two negative reviews is normal for any large platform. A pattern of complaints about unpaid withdrawals or frozen accounts is a disqualifying red flag.

Only casinos that passed all seven criteria made our recommended list for New Jersey players.

hand-with-coin

Bonuses and Promotion

Next, we break down the bonuses and promotions at each online casino in New Jersey. Once again, the offshore casinos normally have the edge, as they offer larger sign-up bonuses and reload bonuses, plus better loyalty programs.

We assess the size of the bonuses, the frequency of the offers, and the ease of the rollover requirements. Our experts can then determine which sites offer New Jersey players the best value.

slot-machine

Game Selection and Software Providers

Finally, we evaluate the game selection at each online casino. We are looking for sites that host hundreds of slots from many different software providers. They should include simple 3-reel slots, new releases with loads of features, progressive jackpot slots, 3D slots and more.

We also focus on the range of virtual table games, video poker games, specialty games, and live casino games. The games should be arranged in a user-friendly format, making it easy for you to find your favorite slots, table games, and live dealer games, and the software should be reliable, resulting in a smooth player experience.

Online Casino Bonuses: Understanding Wagering Requirements in Plain English

A wagering requirement tells you how many times you need to bet your bonus funds before you can withdraw winnings. Here’s what that actually means in dollars:

  • You deposit $200 and claim a 250% bonus = $500 in bonus funds
  • The wagering requirement is 30x
  • 30 × $500 = $15,000 in total bets before you can cash out

That sounds like a lot, but remember every spin you make counts toward that total. If you’re playing $2 spins on a slot, you’re clearing $2 per spin toward the requirement. A 500-spin session at $2 per spin clears $1,000 of the requirement.

Why crypto bonuses are often better: Crypto welcome bonuses at sites like DuckyLuck (600% up to $3,000) give you a much larger base to work with, which means your winnings can be proportionally larger even after clearing the wagering requirement. The higher percentage more than compensates for the wagering math in most cases.

Which games count toward wagering: Slots typically contribute 100% toward wagering requirements. Table games like blackjack and roulette often contribute only 10–20%. Always check the T&Cs to confirm which games count before you start playing.

Pro Tips for Claiming Offshore Bonuses

  • Always use crypto for the highest match percentage. The crypto bonus at every site on this list is equal to or better than the standard offer
  • Read the wagering requirement before depositing. Calculate the real dollar amount you need to wager before committing
  • Check which games contribute 100%. Slots almost always do; table games often don’t
  • Claim the bonus before your first deposit. Most offshore bonuses must be activated before or during your initial deposit, not after
  • Set a realistic clearing timeline. Don’t try to clear a 30x requirement in one session; spread it across multiple sessions to play within your budget

Best Bonuses by Category

  • Best overall bonus: Las Atlantis — 280% up to $14,000 across 5 deposits gives you the most total bonus value
  • Best crypto bonus: DuckyLuck — 600% up to $3,000 is the highest crypto match percentage on our list
  • Best free spins offer: Wild Casino — 250 free spins with no wagering requirement on spin winnings
  • Best for high rollers: Super Slots — $500,000 max withdrawal limit for crypto players

Are Online Casinos Legal in New Jersey?

Yes, online casinos are legal in New Jersey. There are more than 20 regulated online casinos in New Jersey. Many are tied to land-based casinos in Atlantic City, such as Caesars, Golden Nugget, Borgata, and Tropicana. Others are linked to online sportsbooks, such as FanDuel and DraftKings.

You can also use offshore casinos in New Jersey. It is cheaper to host an online casino overseas than in the United States, as costs are lower. The best offshore casinos pass on those cost savings to their customers via larger bonuses and slots with higher payout rates.

For that reason, many players in New Jersey use online casinos based overseas. They receive larger bonuses, and they can also use crypto for payments, which is not an option at the regulated sites.

New Jersey Gambling Overview

New Jersey Gambling Overview

All major forms of gambling are legal in New Jersey, including online. The Garden State has passed laws permitting online casinos, poker rooms, sportsbooks, racebooks, and fantasy sports contests. No other state has more liberal gambling laws than New Jersey.

The only real exceptions are politics betting and wagers on college teams based in the state, such as Rutgers.

Atlantic City Casinos in New Jersey

Atlantic City is the second-largest gambling city in the country. It is the largest gambling hub on the East Coast, and second only to Las Vegas on a nationwide basis. Atlantic City was developed into a resort town in the 1850s, and it had a thriving casino scene during the Prohibition era, as depicted in the HBO show Boardwalk Empire.

New Jersey voters approved casinos in Atlantic City in 1976. The move was designed to revitalise the city. There have been large casino resorts along the Boardwalk since Resorts opened its doors in 1978. Today, there are nine commercial casinos in Atlantic City, all of which offer land-based sportsbooks.

Tribal Casinos in New Jersey

There are no tribal casinos in New Jersey. The state does not have any federally recognized tribes. There are three state-recognized tribes, but they are not covered by the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

State Lottery in New Jersey

New Jersey voters approved a state lottery when they went to the ballot boxes for the general election in 1969. The 81.5% majority was one of the largest in the state’s political history. The first tickets went on sale at 2,000 vendors across New Jersey in December 1970, and the first millionaire drawing was held the following year.

There are now eight lottery draw games. You can play Pick 3, Pick 4, Jersey Cash 5, Quick Draw, Cash Pop and Pick-6 Xtra, plus the multi-state Mega Millions and Powerball games. You can visit approximately 7,000 lottery retailers to buy tickets.

Since its inception, the lottery has contributed nearly $35 billion to the state. The funds are used to improve public services and to pay for state worker pensions. Most of the money is returned to players, who won $3.3 billion in fiscal year 2025.

Who Regulates Gambling in New Jersey?

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) regulates most forms of gambling in the state. The DGE was established in 1977 under the Casino Control Act, and it was tasked with overseeing casinos in Atlantic City. Its remit has expanded since then, and it now regulates sportsbooks and poker tournaments too.

The New Jersey Racing Commission regulates pari-mutuel wagering and exchange betting in the Garden State. The New Jersey Lottery Commission, a bipartisan group featuring nine members, oversees the state lottery. There is also a Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission, part of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, which regulates charity bingo games.

Atlantic City is like the Vegas of the East Coast, but New Jersey allows online casinos, unlike Nevada. How can NJ have both online and land-based, while Nevada is hesitant to allow online sites?

Philip Conneller Author Image

Answer

Philip Conneller , Author at GamblingNerd.com,

First, it comes down to economics. New Jersey wanted online casinos to give its ailing gaming industry an economic boost and, after a slowish start, it’s largely been a success story.

The Las Vegas casino industry has never faced the economic difficulties that Atlantic City did beginning in the late 2000s, so while you can characterize Atlantic City as the “Vegas of the East Coast,” they’re really very different economically and politically.

In Atlantic City, you have nine casinos, and that’s it. In Nevada, you have hundreds. The Nevada legislature is required by law to “foster the stability and success of gaming” and they’ve never quite been sold on online gaming.

There may be hundreds of casinos in Nevada but there are also a relatively small number of really big players, such as MGM Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, and Wynn Resorts. It’s likely that these big names would dominate a Nevada online casino market, arguably to the detriment of smaller land-based casinos.

How much competition does New Jersey face from other regulated markets in the area, such as Pennsylvania or Delaware?

Philip Conneller Author Image

Answer

Philip Conneller , Author at GamblingNerd.com,

New Jersey faces huge competition, from Pennsylvania in particular. For the whole of the 1980s, Atlantic City had a monopoly on casino gaming across the entire Eastern Seaboard and benefitted from being the closest gambling destination to the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous areas in the world.

Atlantic City’s gaming revenues peaked in 2006. It’s no coincidence that was also the year that the first casinos were being built in Pennsylvania, and many existing racetracks received licenses to host slots. Now you have a cluster of casinos in Philadelphia that suck up the footfall from New York.

The increase in competition and the economic downturn of the late 2000s hit Atlantic City hard. In 2014, four of Atlantic City’s casinos closed. That was basically one third of the land-based industry.

Now they’re looking to bring casinos to downstate New York, which could cost Atlantic City 20% to 30% of its casino revenues. That could lead to fresh closures.

The Future of Online Casinos in New Jersey

The Future of Online Casinos in New Jersey

Online casinos have a bright future in New Jersey. The Garden State is well established as one of the largest online gambling markets in the country. It has a lower tax rate than Pennsylvania, and more licensed casino operators and software providers than any other state.

The only major issue would be neighboring New York deciding to pursue a regulated online casino market. New Jersey’s online sports betting market suffered a significant drop after New York introduced a legal industry, as New Yorkers had been crossing the border to place bets, and a similar situation could arise if the Empire State legalized online casinos.

Please Gamble Responsibly in New Jersey

New Jersey’s rate of problem gambling is approximately three times the national average, according to a report from the Division of Gaming Enforcement. The state government has launched campaigns to encourage responsible gambling, and there are tools available to help you stay in control, including a statewide self-exclusion program.

It can be helpful to set a playing budget, which only includes money that you can afford to lose. Do not exceed that budget, and do not chase losses. If you need support, you can visit these sites:

Why does New Jersey allow online casinos while many states do not?

Even though New Jersey has a large regulated market, some players look for additional casino options online. Offshore casino sites are often explored because they may offer larger welcome bonuses, different game libraries, and alternative payment methods such as cryptocurrency.
