Sabalenka to Win the WTA Finals

All eyes will be on the world’s top three players as they descend upon Riyadh. Sabalenka, Swiatek, and Gauff have won the last three Grand Slams, and they head the betting for this season-ending tournament.

Of that trio, Sabalenka is the only player that hasn’t previously won the WTA Finals. Gauff is the reigning champion, having beaten Zheng Qinwen last year. Swiatek lifted the trophy in 2023, courtesy of a heavy victory over Jessica Pegula.

Sabalenka came close in 2023, but she lost to Carolina Garcia in the final. She also lost in the semifinals of the WTA Finals last year. Now Sabalenka will be determined to make amends.

The hard-hitting Belarusian star blazed a trail of destruction across the US Open last month, dropping just one set in the entire tournament. She was beaten in the semifinals of the Wuhan Open earlier this month, but she should raise her game for the WTA Finals.

The WTA asked tennis great Martina Navratilova for her verdict on all eight players prior to this tournament. She said that Sabalenka is “the favorite on any surface, but particularly on a medium-pace hard court where you get a solid bounce and good footing.” Navratilova added: “She’s deadly on this stuff.”

That sounds ominous for her rivals. Swiatek struggled at the China Open and the Wuhan Open, crashing out of both tournaments before the semifinals. She may have run out of steam after an intense season.

WTA Tour Championship Prediction: Anisimova to Reach the Final

Siniakova and Townsend to Win the Doubles

Katerina Siniakova is one of the best doubles players of all time. The 29-year-old Czech star has won 10 Grand Slam doubles titles during her career. She has triumphed on all surfaces, with three Australian Opens, one US Open, three French Opens, and one Wimbledon title. Siniakova also won the mixed doubles at Wimbledon this summer.

She showed her ruthless side when she ended her wildly successful partnership with fellow Czech player Barbora Krejcikova in 2024. That announcement stunned the tennis world, but it proved to be a shrewd decision.

Siniakova went on to win the French Open doubles title alongside Gauff, before forming a very strong partnership with American Taylor Townsend. That duo won Wimbledon in 2024 and the Australian Open earlier this year. They were runners-up at last month’s US Open too.

While they don’t have the same telepathic understanding that Siniakova and Krejcikova enjoyed, they complement one another perfectly. Siniakova is right-handed and Townsend is left-handed, so they can hit strong shots from both sides of the court.
